To start of with i am a huge fan of Marvel and i had high expectations of the Super Hero Squad show, I grew up watching the X-men animated series (which can now be watched online for free, just search amongst other animated shows. So after watching a few episodes of the SHSS i was blown away by how great it was. It went beyond what i expected and is an excellent starting point for anyone entering the Marvel universe. The Squad is made up of all your favourite heroes, they have been drawn in the style of the Hasbro toy line and so look smaller than normal with over exaggerated features, they also have exaggerated personalities compared to the comic books. For example the Hulk never stops eating, is blatantly dumb, entertained by the simplest things and always a second away from becoming angry, the Silver Surfer still has the power cosmic and is the typical surfer dude, Iron man runs the show and uses all sorts of gadgets to save the day, Captain America shows up a lot throughout the series with his ‘hero’ gentlemanly charm and heard referring to Thor as a lady simply because he has long hair.

As you can see above the voice talent for this show is awesomely impressive, Marvel have managed to secure some great stars, a few are even the stars who played the character in a movie like iceman from the X-men movies.

The show may be primarily marketed at children but the humour of the show is most definitely suited to adults. The stories aren’t groundbreaking but they stick to the comics and are thoroughly entertaining and will be great viewing for both you and your children. I just recently saw the Double episode staring Galactus, the attention to detail is amazing, when you see this you will love it!!

In conjunction with the release of the fully remastered 13 album box set of the Beatles, that can be listened to in its highest fidelity available and the Beatles Rock band computer game, I have put up the opening cinematic and the outro to the new game: (Beware it does get a little trippy)

I just love the look of these animations, I am a huge fan of the Beatles and these I feel are a great representation of the music that they made. I cannot wait to try this game and eventually own a copy, If only to pretend for a moment that i am one of the Beatles.

If anyone wants to buy me either the the Beatles Rockband game or the mono version box set please feel free to get in touch.

Not that i need any reason to get excited about Transformers but the much loved 80’s robotic foreigners have finally arrived on Blu Ray. With voice acting from the likes of the legend Leonard Nimoy, Orson Welles (Citizen Kane) and Music from the likes of Weird Al Yankovic, What is not to be loved?

The movie has also been remastered and is included in the disc as the ‘Remastered Theatrical Wide Screen Edition’.  You also get the ‘Full Screen Edition’ amongst other things like the original trailer, TV spots, Voice actor biographies, Commentary features and extras, Animated storyboards, Deleted scenes and also a bonus episode of Transformers: Beast Wars. There is still even more on the disc that nostalgic’s out there will no doubt enjoy, Overall I think that the movie is best viewed whilst eating a big bowl of the most sugar filled cereal out there and about 10 inches away from the screen, Or is that just me then?

The release is obviously to coincide with the second live action movie adaptation of Transformers but for me the animation is still king and other childhood fans will love this new version, But be warned you probably wont need this if you have already purchased the 20th anniversary DVD edition.

Just so fun below is the Original trailer for ‘Transformers: The movie 1986’

Everyone knows that i love stop motion animation so when busy on the net I stumbled upon this great japanese ukulele playing duo, One of the first things you will notice is how one of the band members plays a little under used instrument called a Pianica and that the members are in fact represented by two hand knitted (but extremely cute) soft toys. Their music is fun, peaceful and reminescent of israel kamakawiwo’ole if only for the Hawaiian inspired ukulele rifts playing throughout each track.

The duo give a better explanation of what makes them tick in the following vid:
